€20m loans boost for UniCredit Banja Luka clients

Thursday 10 Sep 2020

The EBRD and UniCredit Bank Banja Luka have joined forces to support companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina affected by the coronavirus

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a loan of up to €20 million via UniCredit Bank a.d. Banja Luka to step up the fight against the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The financing will be used for on-lending to local businesses in need of short-term working capital or liquidity support following a dramatic reduction in economic activity after the imposition of public health measures in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The loan will contribute to the continued functioning of the economy by loosening pressure on liquidity and will help the private sector to overcome the direct implications of the pandemic.

“Thanks to the cooperation with the EBRD, which once again recognised us as one of the strategic partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we will provide the economy with an additional €20 million,” commented Gordan Pehar, President of the Management Board of UniCredit Bank Banja Luka. “The funds are intended primarily to support companies with their short-term liquidity needs and to help them overcome other direct impacts of the pandemic. We strive to serve all of our clients and the community in every way we can, and always do the right thing.”
