UNICREDIT DONATES €500,000 FROM CARTA ETICA FUNDS TO PIEDMONT REGION
The donation confirms UniCredit's commitment to supporting Italy in the fight against Covid-19 and follows a similar donation granted to the Veneto Region in April. Both amounts will be an advance payment of the funds raised through the UniCredit Flexia Classic Etica card throughout 2020
In response to the €500,000 donation, Alberto Cirio, President of the Piedmont Region, said: “We thank UniCredit and all the citizens who, through their banking group, have chosen to donate and provided vital support to our territory. This important new donation will be integral in helping Piedmont to start again and in safety.”
Remo Taricani, Co-CEO Commercial Banking Italy, said: “In this very difficult phase for the country, our Group feels the responsibility of being close to the communities, territories and economies in which it operates more than ever. In dealing with this emergency, acting quickly is important, which is why we have decided to advance a €500,000 donation from the funds being raised through the Carta Etica card over the course of 2020 to the Piedmont Region. If we exceed this amount in the coming months through the generosity of our customers, we will look to increase it”.
Thanks to the funds raised through the UniCredit Flexia Classic Etica card, the bank has already made donations to the Italian Red Cross in the Piedmont cities of Torino and Cuneo – donating close to €35,000 for the purchase of masks and other medical equipment to help in the fight against the coronavirus.
